Abstract

Bleaching is the breakdown of symbiotic relation of anthozoans and zooxanthellae. Bleaching at local scales has been reported for almost a century. Mass bleaching at larger geographical scales, is relatively a new phenomenon. There are major factors like elevated temperature and ocean acidification; factors like high solar irradiance, sedimentation and sometimes disease have also been reported for bleaching. Here we have reported bleaching of some anthozoans at Mithapur and Dwarka coast.

Key Words: Bleaching, Corals, Zoanthids, Sea-anemon
